Working On Things
“cafes are my second home and often during my younger years felt like my actual home spending more and more time honouring my time there creating beautiful paintings in espresso and milk based drinks and serving them to the wonderful customers who helped me grow into the artist who I am today with sharing their words of wisdom and advice and everything in between. ”
One day, picture it, flipping the open sign around and hearing the familiar sound of the espresso machine working with the coffee grinder. The playlist coffee on in the background and the sweet smell of freshly baked goods wafting through the space. It’s early and we are getting the cafe ready for another art workshop. The plants are being watered and the oxalis triangularis is waking up alongside the barista, having their first brew after finding themself being satisfied with dialling in..
I’ve worked as a barista for close to two decades, its where I found myself pining after espresso and having ideas written on till roll for blog posts that I write during my lunch breaks, cafes are my second home and often during my younger years felt like my actual home spending more and more time honouring my time there creating beautiful paintings in espresso and milk based drinks and serving them to the wonderful customers who helped me grow into the artist who I am today. With sharing their words of wisdom and advice and everything in between. I’ve been lucky enough to be nurtured in the cafes that I found myself working in with the people I worked with, becoming life long friends and creative adventurers often asking each other “okay, but how do we do that?” then proceeding to work out how to do it and being proud of the collaborative efforts of the creative process we call being baristas.
There are so many memories of where growth occurred, not feeling it or seeing it at the time, but looking back I can honestly say, falling into the coffee industry was the best place to fall to help me land on my feet. So one day, after more nurturing and growth and working it out I’ll finally open the doors of a either a bricks and mortar place to call home and or have a caravan to call it home in the lead up to the bricks and mortar space. But until then, I have a bit of work to do and I’m more and more inspired to take action every day with each word I write. So let’s talk about it.
So to start, I’ve been working on designing art products from stickers to prints. Not yet have I created enough to open a shop but I am working on it. I have a video series I started on the YouTube for bean planted but I am toying with the idea of starting again and doing things differently and better and having it here instead. I feel right in making the decision to have the video series here now and since I made some mistakes with the first painting, I feel as though it would be beneficial to start again and do it differently so that there is a better final product. We can call that development..
“I’ve been working on designing art products from stickers to prints. Not yet have I created enough to open a shop but I am working on it. ”
It’s the sticker I painted of the oxalis triangularis and I wanted to shed a lonely tear when I made that mistake of manifesting a mistake because I didn’t stop when I knew I should of you know? So why not start it again and do it better? So the next video to be made will be a designing products for Bean Planted and talking about the foundations I am building on to make sure that in three years which is the aim, to have a beautiful selection of products available to put into the Bean Planted shop.
Not only art products, like stickers, prints and other delights, but plants too, and some rarer ones that are slowly growing in my personal collection and growing happily in my propagation boxes which will hopefully turn into inventory one day, though I need grow lights and a better plant set up so watch this blog because I want to talk about the set up I have designed too. And over the next three years I want to research them so I know how to talk about them and sell them to people in the community and give the advice that’s needed so I will be writing a whole lot of plant care guides too which I am solidly looking forward to creating.
“Bean Planted is also going to stock coffee beans one day and I want to sell beautiful single origin roasts from different places and work with groovy companies..”
The whole point of this blog and the videos I will produce for it will be informative in a way that inspires more people to share the joy, love and creativity that plants coffee and art have given me. Bean Planted is also going to stock coffee beans one day and I want to sell beautiful single origin roasts from different places and work with groovy companies, though I feel I will need some extra space for that so until I can sell them, I will be writing reviews where I can discuss all the beans, I want to say spill them whilst filming cupping videos but I’ll hold back as I think you get the idea.
So overall there are a shed load of ideas that I have and I will be working on in the coming months. I do plan of getting an espresso machine too and having my little barista station set up because I miss that so I will be getting one hopefully before Christmas and making some sweet videos about coffee, plants and art products and scheduling posts for the love of creative inspiring routine..
Until then I will keep it ristretto and sign off with love and light so I can get a move on with setting this bad boy website up and writing an abundance of blog posts ready for the site launch.
LOVE YOU
